MDP Products and Services, Inc., a West Jefferson-based company, has opened a virtual office and will be hiring 25 Ashe County residents.

The company, operated by Warren and Matthew Pizik, will have an office-based call center that will field incoming sales calls.

“We are hoping to create jobs in Ashe County, and what we came up with was a call center,” said Warren Pizik. “We have been in West Jefferson for seven years, have hired people and want to hire more.”

The first product MDP will be selling will be GE alarm systems. These systems will be sold and installed nationally.

These alarm systems are similar to the ADT alarms that are purchased elsewhere. Alarms feature voice activation, motion sensing technology, and numerous other safety measures around the home and property.

Eventually, MDP will be expanding to offer other products and services, including energy from Central Energy Solutions.

Right now, MDP does not have an office, but Pizik is hoping to have a physical location set up in West Jefferson through some grant money that will help with the expenses.

The positions offered will all be phone sales representatives that will be taking incoming calls and selling the alarm systems.

Positions can be a full-time job, or can be used as a part-time venture to earn some extra money. Hours for work can vary from morning, afternoon, or evening, whatever fits best in each person’s schedule.

Employees will be trained so that they can work at the office or do everything at home.

For those interested in applying for one of the jobs, keep in mind that good computer skills are a requirement, and some sales experience would be helpful, but not required. Training will be provided.

All positions are commission-based and MDP will be offering benefits in the near future.

Interviews started on Aug. 3, but there is still time to apply for these positions. Four people have already been hired, and the company is still looking for several more workers.

“We hired a teacher and a contractor that just could not find work,” said Pizik. “We are very excited, it is not a scam or anything like that, we simply wanted to open up a call center in Ashe County.”
