The third annual “Hoop It Up for the Kids” basketball tournament is set to take place on Sept. 29 with all money raised going to the Ashe County Children’s Christmas Project.

This year’s event will feature a three-on-three tournament at Blue Ridge Elementary School. Teams can have up to five players, which will allow for two players to substitute in if needed. All players must be at least 18 years of age.

Winners of each game will be the first ones to reach 15 points. The tournament is a double elimination format, meaning you will continue playing until you have lost twice.

Registration will be at 8 a.m. on the day of the tournament, but teams are encouraged to pre-register as there is a 16-team maximum for the tourney. The registration fee is $10 per player and teams can pre-register until Sept. 25.

Before the tournament starts, there will be a three-point shooting contest with a $5 entry fee for those interested in that event.

Trophies will be given to the top three teams in the tournament, as well as the three-point shooting champion.

For early registration, call Danielle Wood at (828) 406-5690, Gary Wiles at (336) 620-1217 or Chris Kearley at (828) 773-2322.
