Shane Allen Patrick
On Sept. 9, 2012, heaven gained a huge and very special heart. Shane Allen Patrick left this world peacefully surrounded by many family and friends. His joyous laugh and boisterous spirit will be missed here on earth.
As a boy, Shane learned the skill of stone masonry from his dad. He spent many warm evenings and weekends practicing his trade with his “happy pappy” and several other family members. On Friday nights in the fall Shane could be found playing football with the Beaver Creek High School Mighty Mighty Beavers. Number 32 loved the competition and being with the boys.
Shane grew up hunting and fishing throughout Ashe County. His passion for bass fishing took him all over the state and southeast. He won several tournaments which were very special to him.
The most special gift Shane left behind is his five-year-old daughter Lily. She shares her daddy’s sense of humor and his love for music. Shane loved her very much and was blessed to have her presence in his life. She will grow up hearing all the wonderful stories and memories Shane had a hand in making.
Shane spent 16 years as building inspector for Ashe County. He made several friends both inside the courthouse and out on job sites. In addition to his daughter, Shane’s generosity and giving nature will live on through the lives of unknown others, as Shane was an organ donor.
Shane was born on Dec. 29, 1975, in Jefferson, to Wayne and Sandra Cheek Patrick. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Ford Cheek; paternal grandfather, Burl Patrick; uncle, James Cheek; aunts, Jackie Cheek, Sharon Cheek and Henrietta Fuller.
Mr. Patrick is survived by his wife, Heather Patrick; one daughter, Lily Patrick; his parents, Wayne and Sandy Patrick of Fleetwood; one sister, Shannon Miller and husband, Mickey, of Cary; maternal grandmother, Murelene Cheek of Fleetwood; paternal grandmother, Julus Patrick of West Jefferson; aunts and uncles, Bob Fuller of Henderson, Donald Cheek and wife, Linda, of Robins, Ronnie Cheek of Fleetwood, David Patrick and wife, Wendy, of Columbia, S.C., Lois Grubb and husband, Gwyn, of West Jefferson, Larry Patrick and wife, Pauline, of Wilkesboro, Gary Patrick and wife, Ann, of Wilkesboro, and Linda Miller and husband, Rocky, of Boone; several cousins; special friends, fishing buddies and classmates.
