Appalachian State freshman and former Lady Husky soccer player Kebrina Keys finished her first collegiate season on a team that made big strides this past year.
The Mountaineers finished with 10 wins for only the fifth time in history and had a winning record for just the sixth time in the program’s existence.
Keys played in 18 games this season and started three of them as a true freshman. She scored one goal on 11 shots. That goal came in a game against Samford on Oct. 7. Her goal kept the Mountaineers from losing that match as it ended in a 1-1 tie.
Keys should be a big part to next year’s team that will return six of its 11 starters from the season finale against Elon in the Southern Conference Tournament.
App State finished the season 10-8-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the SoCon, good enough for fourth place. The Mountaineers saw its season come to a close in the Southern Conference Tournament with Elon coming away with a 1-0 victory to advance to the next round. UNC-Greensboro captured the regular season championship, but was upset in the first round of the tournament by eighth seeded Georgia Southern.
