The Cardinals kept Ashe from scoring that first road victory of the year with a 3-0 win over the visiting Lady Huskies.
East took game one by a 25-13 score, then followed that up with a 25-15 victory in the second game. With the match on the line, the Lady Huskies fought hard in the third set, but saw the Cardinals capture a 25-22 win.
Adrian Pardue’s 16 kills helped lead the Cardinal offense to the win.
For Ashe, Abby Lopp had a strong overall game. The junior had nine kills to lead the way as well as two blocked shots.
Paige Spell finished with four kills, Elaina Bassett had three, Sloan Elliott had two and Kendall McDaniel added one.
McDaniel and Lynsey Aldridge had two aces each on serves and the team as a whole finished with only six serving errors. Aldridge also led Ashe with 13 digs and Zoe Richardson had a team-high 19 assists.
The Lady Huskies fell to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
Next week, Ashe will begin the second half of the conference schedule. The ladies host Alleghany on Tuesday and travel to Elkin on Thursday.
