Huskies overpower North Wilkes, 8-2

Five different goal scorers led the Huskies to an 8-2 victory over North Wilkes on Thursday.

Victor Melo put the Huskies ahead 1-0 with his only goal of the match in the 16th minute.

Ashe built on the lead with two goals in a 10-minute span. Alexis Ramos connected on a great header in the 25th minute for a goal, then Eric Barcenas buried one in the net in the 35th minute.

North Wilkes finally answered the early offense from Ashe with a goal in the 37th minute from Dylan Shumate to make the score 3-1.

The Huskies scored two more goals in the final three minutes. Frank Ledezma scored in the 38th minute and then Barcenas scored his second of the match in the closing seconds of the first half. Ashe was up 5-1 at the half.

The Vikings scored first to open the second half. Jeremy Billings booted a shot by Jamison Cline in the 43rd minute.

Ashe quickly answered with Ledezma’s second goal of the night in the 45th minute.

Trent Pruitt netted a goal in the 56th minute and Ramos capped off the night with his second goal to put the final score on the board in the 74th minute of action.

The Huskies are now 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Ashe hosts Alleghany on Thursday.
