Golfers place second at Oakwoods CC

The women’s golf team held on for second place in the final regular season match, finishing with a team score of 153 last week at Oakwoods Country Club.


Elkin remained undefeated in conference matches, finishing 21 shots ahead of Ashe. Alleghany was third, five shots back of the Lady Huskies and Wilkes Central finished fourth with a score of 182.


Mary-Frances Hall had the best score of a 33. Her Elkin teammate Annika Winebarger finished with a 44. Alleghany’s Katie Talley was third with a 49, followed by a duo of Ashe players in fourth and fifth with Savannah Brooks shooting a 50 and Sarah Hardin finishing with a 51.


Olivia Barr finished with a 52 and Makensie Shatley shot 62 to round out the Ashe scoring.
