Eight seniors celebrated in style with a 9-0 victory over East Wilkes on Thursday.
Matthew Ball, Alex Church, Jake Harmon, Frank Ledezma, Alexis Ramos, Bryam Reyes, Jackson Sloan and Jamie Weaver were recognized at halftime for all of their hard work and dedication to the Ashe County High School soccer program.
Head Coach Wes Rousseau said that these guys played an important role in the three winningest seasons in ACHS history.
As the game started, Ashe quickly pounced on the hapless Cardinals with three goals in the first four minutes. Gavin Woodie, Miguel Ramos and Frank Ledezma scored to go up 3-0.
Ramos added his second goal of the game with a strike in the eighth minute.
Sloan scored the fifth goal in the 13th minute and Jamison Cline, who usually starts at goalie, got his first score of the year in the 34th minute.
In the second half, Ledezma scored his second goal just one minute into the half.
A. Ramos scored on a header off of an Ashe corner kick in the 49th minute and Ledezma capped off his Senior Night hat trick with a goal in the 70th minute.
Weaver started at goaltender and made several good saves to preserve the shutout.
The Huskies are 13-6-1 overall and 10-1-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
East Wilkes dropped to 2-16 overall and 2-10 in conference action.
