One singles player and two doubles teams traveled to Lexington last Friday for the 2A Midwest Regional.

Hallie Brown was defeated in the first round in the singles tournament.

In doubles action, Grace Miller and Mary Austin Tugman fell in the first round.

Kasey Curcio and Ella Copeland won their first match before falling in the second round.

“I am proud of them (Curio and Copeland) for making it to the quarterfinals,” said Head Coach Larry Dix. “This was a great way to end their senior year.”

Although the season came to an end without sending anyone to the 2A State Tournament, the year was certainly a huge success for the tennis program.

“Ashe had a great season winning the 2A conference and conference tournament. We had six players make all-conference and five that qualified for regionals,” Coach Dix said.

Brown, a junior, was also named the MVAC Player of the Year in addition to her all-conference recognition and regional invite.
