Tennis, golf all-conference teams named

Ashe had two golfers and six tennis players chosen as all-conference performers.

Olivia Barr and Sarah Hardin represented Ashe on the Mountain Valley All-Conference golf team. Elkin’s Mary-Frances Hall was chosen as MVAC Player of the Year and Elkin Head Coach Sena Hinson was named as the conference’s top coach.

Annika Winebarger of Elkin and Alleghany’s Katie Tally rounded out the rest of the all-conference squad.

Three golfers made the honorable mention team: Kristen Carico of Alleghany, Kaley Cornelison of Elkin and her teammate Palmer Duncan.

Hallie Brown, Ella Copeland, Kasey Curcio, Grace Miller, Mary-Austin Tugman and Maggie Witherspoon received all-conference recognition in tennis. Brown was also chosen as the MVAC Player of the Year.

East Wilkes Head Coach Aaron Simmons took home the top coaching honors.
