Shooting champions crowned

December 19, 2013

The Ashe County Wildlife Club named its 2013 champions in Shotgun Sports and Pistol Shooting on Saturday, Dec. 7 at its annual Christmas party.

Normally, there would have been a 2013 Rifle Champion named, but the rifle range was closed for much of the year in order to build a club house and transform the 100-yard range into a 300-yard range to accommodate state and regional International Benchrest Shooting tournaments in 2014.

2013 Shotgun Championship:

1st Place - Larry Davidson

2nd Place - Brian Hensley

3rd Place - Tony Johnson

2013 Pistol Championship:

1st Place - Arlen Bard

2nd Place - Jerry Seamon

3rd Place - Dama Roe

The Club property is located at 3260 Big Creek Peak Road (north of the experimental farm on N.C. 88). Amenities include a clubhouse, 300-yard rifle range, pistol range, skeet, trap and sporting clays fields. Regular championship and fun shoots are held at the range.

Membership is $100 per year ($125 for new members).

The club meets the third Monday of each month (starting again in February 2014) at Smoky Mountain Barbecue.
