Central wrestling beats Ashe

Wilkes Central wrestlers went 9-5 against Ashe County on Friday night, beating the Huskies 54-24.

Ashe got a win in the 120-pound class from Bodi Miller as he pinned Brian Vargus.

T.J Saunders pinned Kevin Lincoln in the 145-pound class. Shawn Baker earned a 6-4 decision win over Christopher Ocampo, Mitchell Brown won a 19-12 decision over Hector Santiago in the 220-pound class and Trajan Wellington pinned fellow 285-pounder Michael Walker.

The rest of the matches all went the Eagles’ way.

Isaac Catalan pinned Caleb Cooper in the 106-pound weight class. 113-pounder Jack Privette won via forfeit, as did Erik Bueno (138-pounds), Cole Susi (152-pounds), Parker Ward (160-pounds) and Caleb Minton (170-pounds).

Wilkes Central’s Juan Castro pinned Andrew Tedder at 126 pounds, Dakota Massucco pinned Brady Buchanan at 132 pounds and Evan Adams pinned Joshua Hamilton in the 182-pound match.

The Huskies will have a pair of home wrestling matches this week. Ashe hosts West Wilkes on Tuesday night and Alleghany on Friday night.
