Appalachian State forward Tommy Spagnolo set a career-high with 15 points and 17 rebounds, but the Mountaineers fell short against UNC-Greensboro, 66-61
The Mountaineers led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but he Spartans rallied back in a big way in the final 15 minutes.
Jordan Potts drilled six straight three-point baskets to give UNCG a 56-55 lead with just over eight minutes left in the contest.
ASU hit just 1-of-10 shots in the final five minutes of the game, allowing the Spartans to get its 11th win of the season.
The Mountaineers dropped to 6-14 overall and 2-5 in the Southern Conference. UNCG is 11-12 overall and 4-4 in the SoCon.
The former ACHS standout Spagnolo played a team-high 35 minutes and shot 50-percent from the field.
Frank Eaves scored 10 points, Tab Hamilton added eight, Mike Neal scored eight and dished out seven assists and Chris Burgess had seven points.
App State shot just 34-percent from the field and 29-percent from beyond the three-point line.
Potts led all scorers with 26 points, a career-high. Kyle Cain had 14 and Tevon Saddler scored 10.
The Mountaineers will host The Citadel on Thursday at the Holmes Convocation Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
