Competition is heating up in Jefferson Post’s “Cutest Pets Contest,” but it’s not too late to enter your favorite furry friend.

Voting will open on Sunday, Feb. 16 and run through Friday, Feb. 28 and entries will be accepted during that time.

Voters may have a hard time choosing who is the cutest among contestants such as Tiffi the shih-tzu from Todd, Extro the bunny from Lansing and Peaches the cat in pink clip-on earrings whose owner Brandy said, “has lots of attitude and it shows.”

“It’s great to see so many different kinds of pets being entered,” Cliff Clark, manager of the Jefferson Post said. “So many of them have amazing stories.”

Contestant Little Henry is sure to earn lots of votes, as his owner Michael said, “Henry is a rescue dog, in the meaning he showed up and rescued us.”

The top three vote earners in the Cutest Pet Contest will each take home $50 complements of sponsors McDonalds of West Jefferson, RDR Kennel of Warrensville, Vannoy Construction of Jefferson.

“We’re so appreciative of all our sponsors and excited to have them involved in such a popular contest,” Clark said.

To enter your pet, visit the “Local Features” page at, or click the Cutest Pets button on the homepage of the Post and follow the uploading instructions. Don’t forget to tell us what makes your pet so special in the comments section.

After your photo is uploaded you can campaign for votes by sharing the link on Facebook, Twitter or wherever else you’d like to show off your precious pet.

Winners will be notified by email and the top pictures will be displayed in an on-line gallery and appear in a future print issue of The Jefferson Post so everyone can see just how cute your beloved critters are.

The Jefferson Post would like to wish the best of luck to all the adorable contestants and their proud owners!
