Ashe Services for Aging held its annual Valentine’s Day party a week late, after snow required them to reschedule.
Despite the rescheduling, Volunteer Coordinator Glenda Luther said the event was very successful and rescheduling did not affect this year’s attendance.
“It went very well,” Luther said. “It was highly attended as usual and everybody seemed to have a really good time, which we were striving to do.”
The event ran from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 in the dining area of the Ashe County Senior Center.
The attendees were treated to a free brunch consisting of items from Ashe County Cheese, Bojangles, Ingles and the workers from Ashe Services for Aging. Additional food was also brought in by those in attendance.
After eating, attendees received presents from the Ashe Aging staff and volunteers. Other gifts were given to those with most recent birthdays, longest married couple, longest volunteer and other categories.
Luther said over 100 people were in attendance. To close off the brunch, the attendees played Bingo for a chance to win additional prizes.
“Thank you to everybody that supported us for this event,” Luther said. “Everyone was really appreciative and had a really good time.”
