Four-year varsity starter Chrissy Simmons will have a lot to look forward to even after her Ashe County Lady Husky career ends this spring.

Simmons will continue her soccer career at Methodist University where she plans to major in Business Entrepreneurship and minor in Art.

“This is a testament to how hard Chrissy has worked during her career to this point,” said Ashe County Head Coach Wes Rousseau. “She keeps getting better every year.”

Simmons was named as an all-conference honorable mention performer during her sophomore year and built on that season to end up as a Mountain Valley All-Conference performer last year as a junior.

“She (Chrissy) takes a lot of worries away from game planning when you have somebody as strong as her in the net,” Rousseau said. “She erases a lot of mistakes we make defensively.”

The senior goalie has been a key part to a three-year run of Lady Husky soccer that has been the best ever in ACHS history. Simmons and the rest of the Lady Huskies will hope to make this year even more special than the last few have been.

“Chrissy is as big of a member of this team as anybody, she has been with me at the varsity level all four years of her career,” added Coach Rousseau.

Outside of her high school playing days, Simmons has been playing for the High Country Avalanche Classic ‘96 Girls’ Travel Team since her freshman season.

The soccer season gets underway with a pair of road non-conference games at Hibriten and Surry Central this week.
