One person was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital this morning after a two-vehicle accident in Warrensville.

According to witnesses on the scene, at approximately 9:15 a.m. on N.C. 88 in front of the Whistle Stop Cafe, a Dodge Ram 3500 “dualie” plowed into the rear of a Toyota Corolla, which was carrying a driver and three passengers, including one child. The child appeared shaken, but uninjured.

One of the Corolla’s passengers, who was conscious and alert, was loaded in a Blue Ridge Medical Transport ambulance and taken to Ashe Memorial Hospital for treatment.

In addition to BRMT, members of the Warrensville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident, which occurred nearly directly across from the WVFD station.

A trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol was investigating the accident. For details on the accident, look for the weekly “Wreck Report” in the Jefferson Post.
