Ashe County’s soccer season came to an abrupt end on Friday.

The Lady Huskies had no trouble with Lexington at ACHS on Wednesday but were shut out on Friday at Hendersonville.

Ashe scored a 7-0 win against the Yellow Jackets in the first round of the state playoffs.

Taylor May put in her first goal quickly in the contest, netting one in the second minute. She nearly scored her second goal just 11 minutes later, but the shot was just a bit wide of the net.

Melissa Ramos scored in the 16th minute off of a crossing pass from May to put Ashe in front, 2-0.

With just 47 seconds left in the first half, senior striker Candi Sanchez fired a shot by the Lexington goalie to give the Lady Huskies a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Ashe kept piling on the goals in the second half. May scored again in the 52nd minute and Ramos capped off a hat trick with back-to-back goals in the 56th and 64th minutes.

Alexis Wray tallied the final Ashe goal in the 77th minute.

On Friday, Hendersonville was too tough to beat on its home field, taking a 5-0 win to advance to the third round of the 2A playoffs.

Hendersonville will now travel to stop seeded West Stokes on Wednesday after the Wildcats beat Surry Central by a 2-1 score in overtime on Saturday.
