The Community Read for Hugh Howey’s “Wool” will be kicking off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 with an entire day of events at West Jefferson Park.
“We encourage everyone in the community to come out and participate in this great event,” said Kim Grindrod, adult services librarian for the Ashe County Public Library. “It’s the first time that the Community Read has been held in the month of June and we really hope people will come by, pick up a book and participate in as many events as they can attend.”
At 10:30 a.m., festivities will kick off for children while reading “The Tiptoe Guide to Tracking Fairies,” and following that, children and adults will be able to make Medieval masks.
“We will be announcing and launching the official party for the Community Read at this event,” Grindrod said.
Beginning at noon, the library will be providing snacks before capping off the days activities with “Shakespeare in the Park.” The Ashe County Home Schoolers will be doing their interpretation of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” starting at 2 p.m.
“We will be doing various things throughout the day,” Grindrod said.
The event is free to the public and everybody is encouraged to attend.
