One man injured in Monday morning crash

A collision between a light-duty pick-up truck and dump truck in Jefferson Monday morning left the pick-up’s driver with minor injuries.


According to witnesses, the unidentified driver of the GMC Canyon was travelling east on U.S. 221 business when he collided with a dump truck that was travelling west on N.C. 16/88 at the intersection.


After the impact, the driver of the dump truck briefly lost control and exited the roadway ending up in the parking lot of the car wash at the Corner Market in Jefferson.


The GMC Canyon was totaled. The dump truck had minor damage.


The driver of the GMC was treated at the accident scene by EMS personnel with Ashe Medics. Firefighters with the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department also assisted with roadway clean-up and traffic control.
