JEFFERSON-A West Jefferson man already in custody in the Ashe County Jail was hit with additional charges Friday, according to the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office.
Allen William Shepherd, 39, was charged with second degree forcible sex offense, second degree kidnapping and assault by strangulation on Oct. 7. That news comes from Ashe County Sheriff James Williams.
According to the Williams, the sexual offense and strangulation charges stems from an incident that occurred on Sept. 25, while the kidnapping allegedly occurred Sept. 29. Williams said the victim was treated and released from Watauga Medical Center.
“The victim reported the incidents to us after they had occurred,” Williams said. “She’d been choked and beaten and reportedly tied up and held in the trunk of a car, along with sexually assaulted.”
Williams said Shepherd has been in jail since Oct. 3, when he was first charged with two counts of assault on a female and communicating threats.
“He was on probation and when he was booked on these charges he was issued no bond,” Williams said.
