WEST JEFFERSON-Ashe County Sheriff Terry Buchanan said Wednesday a West Jefferson man has been hit with multiple drug charges.
According to a press release issued by the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, Brent Cecil Miller, 47, was charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Methamphetamine over 400 grams, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession With Intent to Manufacture, Sell and Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance (PWIMSD), Felony Maintain a Dwelling used for selling controlled substances, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia on March 14.
“Miller has been the focus of a drug investigation into the distribution of methamphetamines,” according to the release. “The investigation began months ago after the Sheriff’s Office received numerous citizen complaints of ‘suspicious activity’ in the area of Wickzola Apartments in West Jefferson.”
Deputies conducted a search of the residence and seized more than 20 grams of methamphetamine, cash, paraphernalia, and a vehicle.
Officers with the West Jefferson Police Department, Boone Police Department, and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation all assisted in the investigation.
Miller has been placed in the Ashe County Detention Center under a $300,000 secure bond. He has a first appearance in Ashe County District Court on March 16, 2017 and additional appearance on April 6, 2017.
Officers with the West Jefferson Police Department, Boone Police Department, and NCSBI all assisted with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
