Second accident slows traffic after rush hour

FLEETWOOD-Two separate accidents snarled traffic on U.S. 221 Friday evening.

The first accident occurred shortly after midday near the intersection of Windy Hill Road in Fleetwood. A vehicle reportedly traveled down an embankment. Flight service was requested for at least one individual, according to scanner reports. There is no word on the extent of the injuries. Traffic was detoured from the scene for several hours.

The second accident stopped traffic near the convenience center in Baldwin shortly before 7 p.m. Two vehicles sustained noticeable front-end damage. Both vehicles were removed from the roadway and traffic recommenced at 7 p.m. Rain had begun to fall around the time of the accident.
