Lansing domestic violence suspect arrested after ‘fleeing’ to Virginia

LANSING-A Virginia man has been charged after an alleged domestic violence incident in Lansing on Aug. 5.

According to a release issued by the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, ACSO deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Rip Shin Road after a victim had been assaulted and transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.

The suspect in that case, Donnie Turnmire of Greencove, VA, has outstanding warrants for assault on a female, assault inflicting serious bodily injury, felony first degree kidnapping and felonious assault by strangulation.

“Turnmire was last seen fleeing toward Grayson County Virginia and was later detained and arrested by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office,” according to the release. “The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 846-5633.”
