Ashe County Wreck Report Sept. 26 – Oct. 6

ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents that occurred between Sept. 26 and Oct. 6 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Sept. 27

Jerry Wayne Hardy, of 218 Triple T Drive, Boone, was driving on S.R. 1003 in West Jefferson in 1998 Chevrolet when his foot reportedly slipped off the brake and causing his vehicle to strike the 2015 BMD driven by Raegan Kelly Randall. Hardy was cited for failure to reduce speed.

Joey Trevor Kirby, of 212 Pine Lane, Fleetwood, was traveling in a 2016 Ford on U.S. 221 in West Jefferson when his vehicle ran through a stop sign and ran across the highway before striking a ditch. Kirby reportedly left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. His vehicle sustained $5,500 in damages.

Sept. 28

James Edward Weaver, of 396 River Drive, Warrensville, was attempting to make a wide-turn onto a road in a 2002 Nissan when he was struck by a 2014 Ford driven by Ashley Bloun Black, of 2067 Big Horse Creek Road, Lansing. No citations were issued. Both vehicles reportedly sustained $1,000 in damages.

Lisa Calhoun Biondi, of 3742 U.S. 221 N., Jefferson, was traveling on Big Peak Creek Road when her vehicle departed the road on the right and traveled down an embankment. The 2014 Chevrolet then departed the road on the right and traveled down an embankment. The vehicle overturned and rolled over onto its left side and came to final rest. Upon arrival of the investigating officer, there was no one present associated with the wrecked vehicle. The driver was later reportedly located at her residence. The driver of the vehicle stated she swerved to the right to avoid a deer and did not see the embankment. Biondi was cited for failure to maintain lane control. The 2014 Chevrolet reportedly sustained an estimated $4,600 in damages.

Joshua Brian Greer, of 126 Ridge Crest Circle, West Jefferson, was attempting a left-turn off of U.S. 221 when Olin Darryle Giles, of 181 Witherspoon Heights Road, Jefferson, reportedly struck Greer at the intersection. Greer’s 2012 GMC reportedly sustained $3,500 in damages. Giles’ 2014 GMC reportedly sustained $4,500 in damages.

Sept. 30

Henry Tucker Clay, III, of 138 North Fork New River Road, was traveling in a 2010 Ford on S.R. 1573 when he reportedly ran off the road to the right, over corrected before crossing the center-line and ran off the road to the left and struck a sign. The vehicle then over turned and struck a power pole. The vehicle came to final rest facing west off the roadway. Clay reportedly left the scene and returned with a sheriff’s deputy. Clay was charged with driving left of center and driving while intoxicated.

Oct. 1

Amber Britt Fullerton, of 1926 Hillsboro Road, Wilmington, was traveling a 2004 Jeep on N.C 16 when she ran off the road to the right and over corrected. Her Jeep then crossed the center-line and ran off the road to the left before striking an embankment. Fullerton’s vehicle came to final rest facing south on the right shoulder. The driver reportedly left the scene of the accident prior to the arrival of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Oct. 3

Jonathan Avery Shumate was traveling east on N.C. 88 in a 2004 Jeep when he reportedly ran off the road to the right and over-turned. His vehicle came to final rest off of the roadway on the passenger side. Shumate reportedly told the trooper that he fell asleep.
