Ashe County Wreck Report Oct. 11-16

ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents that occurred between Oct. 11 and Oct. 16 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Oct. 11

Richard William Cox, of 268 William T. Calloway Road, Todd, was driving a 2003 Dodge on Three Top Road when he reportedly crossed the center-line and collided with a school bus driven by Wanda Sue Woodard, of 2053 Roundabout Road, Creston. Cox stated that the windows of his vehicle were fogged up and there was little to no visibility. The trooper noted in his report that the windows were fogged up. Cox was charged with driving left of center. His vehicle sustained $1,400 in damages. Woodard’s bus reportedly sustained $900 in damages.

Shelby Jean Murphy, of 386 Frank Dillard Road, Warrensville, was traveling in a 2012 Chevrolet on Clint Gilley Road in Creston when she reportedly departed the road on the right and struck a ditch. The driver reportedly left the roadway after swerving to avoid hitting a deer. Her vehicle overturned. No citations were issued. Her vehicle reportedly sustained $3,600 in damages.

Oct. 12

While Jose Garcia, Jr., of 115 Rolling Green Road, Sparta, was slowing for traffic, he was struck from behind by Patrick Henry Graham, of 232 Lonnie Lane, Fleetwood. Graham was cited for failure to reduce speed. Graham’s Volvo reportedly sustained $2,000 in damages. Garcia’s 2010 Ford reportedly sustained $1,500 in damages.

Oct. 14

Michael Todd Dancy, of 389 Greenbriar Road, Millers Creek, was traveling in a 2015 Toyota on N.C. 163 when he struck a deer. His vehicle reportedly sustained $4,500 in damages.

Oct. 15

Charles Edward Townsend, of 252 Little Creek Road, Fleetwood, was towing a trailer on U.S. 221 when a tire came off of that trailer and struck a 2015 Nissan, which was driven by Deborah Phillips Lewis, of 8416 Three Top Road, Todd. Her vehicle reportedly sustained $2,000 in damages. No citations were listed.

Oct. 16

Michael Matusiak, of 5304 Bingham Drive, Portsmouth, Va., was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, on U.S. 221 when overturned after coming around a curve. His motorcycle came to rest in the ditch on its right-side. His motorcycle sustained $5,000 in damages.

Robert Joseph Miller, of 3665 Teaberry Road, Lansing, was stopped for traffic on U.S. 221 when he was struck by a 2011 Ford driven by David Frederick Braun, of 7583 Old Thyme Court, Parkland, Fla. Braun was charged with failure to reduce speed. Braun’s Ford reportedly sustained $1,500 in damages. Miller’s 2014 Subaru reportedly sustained $3,500 in damages.
