JEFFERSON-The judge, Gregory Horne, overseeing the case of temporarily suspended Ashe County Sheriff Terry Buchanan unsealed Wednesday afternoon the removal petition submitted earlier this week by District Attorney Tom Horner.

The majority of the attachments supporting Horner’s petition however, remain sealed per Horne’s order.

Buchanan was ordered temporarily removed from his post earlier this week after an Ashe County grand jury returned six true bills of indictment, including three counts of felony obstruction of justice.

Horne will next consider Buchanan’s permanent removal from office at a hearing on Nov. 13.
