Three local pet owners are taking home $50 each after receiving the largest number of votes out of nearly 4,600 cast in the Jefferson Post’s “Cutest Pet” online photo contest.
Online voting, which ended Feb. 28, allowed visitors to decide which pet was considered the cutest in the county.
Cliff Clark, general manager of the Jefferson Post, was excited about the success of the contest.
“It was another great online contest for the Post and our sponsors,” Clark said. “I would like to thank our sponsors, McDonalds of West Jefferson, RDR Kennels of Warrensville and Vannoy Construction, and everybody who voted and submitted photos.”
Ellie, a bulldog, received the highest number of votes with 1,460. Her owner, Josiah Heisey of Creston, submitted a photo of her enjoying an Easter Egg hunt.
Heisey said the prize money will go to buying Ellie more treats.
The second highest number of votes went to Goldie, who was relaxing by a Christmas tree. Goldie is a golden retriever owned by Tammy London of Laurel Springs.
In the description, London said “Goldie is the sweetest fur baby you will ever meet.”
Goldie lives in a home that houses foster children, and London said “She makes them feel what love and protection is all about and becomes their best friend.” Goldie received 1,311 votes.
Third place goes to Delilah, a 4-year-old maltipoo owned by Tammy Wilson of Todd. Delilah was hanging out in the back seat of her owner’s car.
Wilson said Delilah is “very gentle and laid back.” Delilah received 495 votes.
