Jennifer Miller, Extension Agent, 4-H, Agent with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County Center, was recognized with the State Award for Achievement in Service recently presented at the Annual 4-H Conference of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Agents in Pinehurst.


This award made her eligible to compete on the national level. Miller received notification that she had not only won the State Award but the National Award as well


Miller began her career with Extension 4-H as an AmeriCorps employee in 1997, becoming the Extension Agent, 4-H in 2006.


“I have enjoyed serving Ashe County youth and families for the last sixteen years. I feel this reflects Ashe County 4-H’s dedication to Ashe County youth and families and is an award to be shared by all Ashe County 4-H Programs,” said Miller. “I am proud of past accomplishments and look forward to the future of Ashe County 4-H.”


“There is not a more deserving recipient of this award,” said Carolyn Shepherd, Ashe County Extension Director. “Jennifer’s expertise is well respected throughout the state. Her contributions to the 4-H Afterschool Program has ensured its continuation and success in addition to the many other opportunities she has provided for the youth in Ashe County. Jennifer continues to be committed to providing the very best opportunities for the youth in Ashe County.”
