An area supply store will soon offer monthly vaccinations for dogs and cats in its store.

The Tractor Supply Company’s Jefferson location will be providing PetVets, an affordable way for dog and cat owners to have their pets vaccinated.

“What they are going to do is that they will be giving vaccines for pets,” said Randy Rose, spokesperson for the store. “The vet will be set up inside the store’s receiving area and they do all sorts of things.”

Alongside vaccinations for Rabies, Bordtella and Parvo, the clinic will also provide microchips and heartworm tests.

Rose said the PetVet inside the store will be similar to a miniature vet clinic.

Different prices will be given for puppies and kittens compared to dogs and cats. There will also be different plans depending on which vaccinations owners receive for their animals.

Rose said a Rabies vaccination would cost pet owners $10.

The event will start off monthly and as more people participate, it will occur more often. First, it will move up to bi-weekly and when the clinic reaches an average of 40 pets, the event will happen weekly.

The first date will be Saturday, Oct. 26.

The next would then happen Saturday, Nov. 23. More dates following those are to be announced.

Other nearby locations offering the service are: Wilkesboro and Elkin.
