West Jefferson Lions Club members are busy coordinating plans for the 2013 Holiday Parade. The parade will be held at noon Nov. 16, on South Jefferson Avenue in West Jefferson.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.” It is sponsored by Parker Tie Co., funded in part by The Town of West Jefferson and coordinated by the West Jefferson Lions Club.
“Interested groups are encouraged to get floats together and come have fun downtown West Jefferson,” said Parade Chairman and Lion Club member Pete Yates.
The Ashe County High School Husky Vanguard Band has been invited to perform along the parade route. Other local groups are also invited to sing or dance to holiday renditions along the parade route. As in the past, we hope many civic clubs, dance teams, churches, fire and rescue departments, and horse owners will be participating in the parade.
Entry forms are available now at the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, West Jefferson Town Hall, and Parker Tie Company. As always, prizes will be awarded in several categories including Best Commercial entry, Best Church or Religious entry, Best Children’s or Youth entry, and Best Community or Civic entry.
The nearly 65 year old West Jefferson Lions Club helps individuals in need of eye care, helping hundreds of people annually.
