A Todd man was charged with driving while intoxicated and damage to property, following him driving a truck over an embankment in the Ingles Parking Lot on Friday, Jan. 10.


Thomas Jack Bledsoe, 46, was driving a 1985 white Dodge Power Ram truck when he drove backward off an embankment in the Ingles parking lot in West Jefferson around 2:08 p.m.


The truck slid off, hitting a ditch on the side of Beaver Creek School Road across from Nations Inn after going over the curb.


According to the report, Bledsoe could not control the vehicle when it went over the embankment. The damage on the car was estimated to be $500.


The male driving the truck was taken into custody by the West Jefferson Police.


Ashe County Sheriffs and the West Jefferson Police Department responded to the accident.
