A brush fire occurred off Dog Creek Extension in Crumpler Friday afternoon.
According to scanner reports, the fire was first called in at approximately 2:25 p.m.
Dog Creek Extension is located near the New River, off U.S. 221 around Greensboro Road and Smith-Dixon Road.
The fire was mostly contained by 3:30 p.m., as crews worked to water down smokey hot spots. The cause of the fire at this time is unknown.
Responders were The New River and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Departments, as well as the N.C. Forestry Service.
