A wreck involving an Ashe County Transport shuttle and late model GMC Yukon occurred just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Mt. Jefferson Road and Mt. Jefferson State Park Road. Also impacted was a stop sign at the intersection on Mt. Jefferson State Park Road.

According to West Jefferson Police Officer Randy Bundy, the driver of the Yukon, Andrea Hicks, was traveling west on Mt. Jefferson State Park Road when she failed to stop at the intersection of Mt. Jefferson Road and was hit broadside by the shuttle, driven by Jerry Osborne. Hicks went off the left side of the road, ran over a stop sign and was hit a second time by the shuttle.

Bundy said three shuttle passengers were taken by ambulance to Ashe Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.
