The following are collision reports posted by the N.C. Highway Patrol in Ashe County the week of May 5.
The reports are public record.
A one car wreck occurred on Old N.C. 16 at 12:45 p.m. on May 5.
According to the narrative, Richard Neaves, of Lansing was traveling north on Old N.C. 16 when he crossed the centerline and ran off the road striking a mailbox. The car then continued to travel when it struck a tree.
Approximately $500 in property damage was accrued to the mailbox and the yard’s landscaping. Neaves’ 2003 Toyota had estimated damages of $3,000 and was rendered not drivable.
Neaves was cited with driving left of center.
A two-car collision occurred on N.C. 88 near the intersection of N.C. 194 at 9:19 a.m. on May 9.
According to the narrative, Danny Miller, of Warrensville and Jimmy McNeill, of Lansing, were traveling north on N.C. 88 when McNeill slowed to turn left. Miller’s 1998 Dodge struck McNeill’s 2004 Toyota. Following the collision, both vehicles were moved to the shoulder of the roadway.
One passenger, Sandra McNeill of Lansing was taken by Blue Ridge Medical Transport to Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Miller’s vehicle was rendered drivable and had an estimated $1,000 in damages. McNeill’s vehicle was rendered not drivable and had an estimated $6,000 in damages.
Miller was cited with failure to reduce speed.
Pine Swamp Road
An animal collision occurred on Pine Swamp Road near the intersection of U.S. 221 at 11:30 p.m. on May 9.
According to the narrative, Sherry Barker, of Fleetwood, was traveling east when a deer entered the roadway. The vehicle was moved from the area of impact before officers arrived.
The vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet, was rendered drivable, but had $2,000 in damages.
