A brush fire grew out of control shortly after 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, off N.C. 163 between West Jefferson and Glendale Springs.


The fire occurred on property located at 8548 N.C. 163.


Firefighters were successful in containing the blaze and no neighboring structures were damaged.


Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) were the responding agencies on the scene.


The NCFS reported “Occasional Fire Activity” for Tuesday in District 2, which includes Ashe, Alexander, Alleghany, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Watauga and Wilkes counties.
