The Olde Towne Jefferson Business Association will kick off its 2014 events with an Olde Towne Market downtown.
“We want to encourage everybody to come out and enjoy a good social day,” said Stacy Maye, president of the OTJBA.
The event will be held at the Museum of Ashe County History on Main Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 24.
“The event will have many antique venders and hand-crafted goods, a local baker will be there and we will have other food venders,” Maye said.
Maye said there will be music, as well as events for children during the day long festival. Music will include the Ashe County High School choir and the Watauga Community Band.
The events which will be catered for children include balloons, caricatures, airbrush painting and sidewalk chalk.
“It will just be a day to enjoy hopefully good weather,” Maye said.
Maye said there were 30 venders lined up and they expect more applications to come in. Also, the OTJBA will have a booth set up.
“We will be discussing and showing people what is coming up for the rest of the year,” she said. “Also, we will be asking people for their input and their feedback on the events that have happened, what’s going on and something they would like to see in the area.”
The OTJBA works to promote a sense of community between the citizens, businesses and Jefferson nonprofits.
The event will be free to the public. Also, the open air market will be rain or shine.
