Remains in intensive care in Winston-Salem

A man was hit by a car in West Jefferson shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 19.

The incident occurred towards the back of the parking lot of Bald Mountain Auto Sales, between the West Jefferson Post Office and People’s Drug Store, off U.S. 221 Business.

According to West Jefferson Police Officer Randy Bundy, the unidentified man sustained injuries to several of his ribs and was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital before being taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized in intensive care.

No charges have been filed in the incident.

Responding agencies were the West Jefferson Police Department and Blue Ridge Medical Transport.
