The following are collision reports posted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol in Ashe County the week of May 26.


The reports are public record.


May 27:


A two car collision occurred on Joe Little Road near Jefferson at 9:41 a.m. on May 27.


According to the narrative, Detrich Reeves of Crumpler was driving west on the road while Daniel Roten, of Lansing, was driving west. The narrative said Reeves was driving too fast for a gravel road, when the vehicle lost control and traveled off the roadway to the right.


When Reeves re-entered the road, it struck Roten’s vehicle.


Both cars were rendered undrivable, with the 2002 Ford Reeves was driving having $3,500 in damages and Roten’s 2007 Chevrolet having $3,000 in damages.


Reeves was cited for a lane control violation and exceeding safe speed.


May 29:


A one car wreck occurred on N.C. 88 west of Jefferson at 4:30 a.m. on May 29.


According to the narrative, Daniel Price of Lansing was driving east on N.C.88 when he crossed the center-line and traveled off the road, striking an embankment. The vehicle, overturned before coming to a rest on N.C. 88.


Price was then sent to Ashe Memorial Hospital.


The vehicle, a 1998 Isuzu was rendered not drivable and had an estimated $5,000 in damages.


No citations were issued.


May 30:


An animal collision happened on N.C. 88 near Scottville at 10:35 a.m. on May 30.


According to the narrative, Joseph Bare of Jefferson was traveling east on N.C. 88 when he struck the deer crossing the road.


The vehicle, a 2010 Ford was rendered drivable and estimated damages were at $1,500.


No citations were issued.


May 31:


N.C. 194


An animal collision occurred on N.C. 194 near Lansing at 6:25 a.m. on May 31.


According to the narrative, Carrie Armstrong of Jefferson was traveling south on N.C. 194 and struck the deer crossing the highway.


Armstrong’s vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet, was rendered drivable and had an estimated $1,800 in damages.

Long Branch Road


A one-car accident occurred on Long Branch Road near Lansing at 1:30 p.m. on May 31.


According to the narrative, Emily Taylor of Lansing was traveling south when the vehicle traveled left of center, leaving the roadway and hitting a ditch.


Taylor’s vehicle, a 2007 Honda, was rendered drivable and had $2,000 in estimated damage.


No citations were issued.


U.S. 221


An animal collision occurred on U.S. 221 near Watertank Road at 9:44 p.m. on May 31.


According to the narrative, Katirie Estes of Jefferson struck a cow that was in the roadway. The vehicle came to a rest in the roadway.


Estes’ vehicle, a 2003 Subaru, was rendered not drivable. The estimated damage was $2,000.


No citations were issued.


An additional vehicle, driven by Leroy Watson, of Fleetwood, struck a cow that was in the roadway. Two passengers of that vehicle were sent to Ashe Memorial Hospital.


Watson’s vehicle, a 2004 Subaru was rendered not drivable. The estimated damage was $3,000.


No citations were issued.


June 1:


A two-car collision occurred on U.S. 221 near Ashe Central School Road at 1:33 p.m. on June 1.


According to the narrative, Tina Key of West Jefferson was traveling north on U.S. 221 when Bobby Colvard, of Laurel Springs, was making a left turn from a private drive onto the highway. Colvard’s vehicle failed to reduce speed and struck Key’s vehicle.


Key then traveled off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a ditch, while Colvard struck a guardrail.


Approximately $1,000 in damages occurred to the guardrail.


Both vehicles were rendered not drivable. Key’s 2010 Honda had $8,000 in estimated damages and Colvard’s 2000 Ford had $3,000 in damages.


Colvard was cited for a failure to yield.


June 2:


A one-car wreck occurred on N.C. 88 near West Jefferson at 8:08 p.m. on June 2.


According to the narrative, Kristy Eastridge of North Wilkesboro was traveling east on N.C. 88 had swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle in the wrong lane when her vehicle ran off the right shoulder and struck a sign.


Eastridge was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital. Her vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet had $500 in estimated damage but was rendered not drivable.
