The Huskies led from the opening seconds and never looked back on the way to the first win of the season, a 60-50 road win over Elkin.
Ashe held a 13-1 lead after the first quarter, a sign of good things to come for the rest of the game.
The Huskies maintained that 12-point advantage through halftime with a 25-13 lead going to the second half.
Ashe blew the game wide open with a 22-point third quarter that included 11 points from senior Devan Sheets and five points from fellow senior Cullen Ashley.
Elkin attempted a late rally in the fourth quarter and got to within 10 points, but Ashe was able to secure that first win and start off the Mountain Valley Conference slate of games with a 1-0 record.
Sheets finished with a game-high 18 points and three steals. Junior Alex Spencer had 17 points and five rebounds.
Ashley finished with nine points and two assists. Connor Bowers added six points and three boards, Bradley Lucas had five points, Parker Shelton scored three points and Gavin Woodie added two.
For Elkin, Jamiles Hayes was the high scorer with 13. Kody King scored 12 points, Tyrek Hayes added eight points and Daniel Brinegar scored six.
The Huskies are now 1-5 overall and 1-0 in the MVAC. Elkin slipped to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Ashe will be back to non-conference play this Friday with rival Watauga making the short drive to ACHS.
