Jordan Church poured in 23 points to help North Wilkes hand Ashe its first conference loss of the year, 60-59.
Ashe trailed late in the fourth quarter before ripping off a 13-0 run that carried into the first overtime session.
A pair of late baskets by Church put Ashe down one point in the second overtime with 13 seconds remaining.
On the final trip down the court, Corbin Winebarger’s game-winning attempt touched every part of the rim it could, but rolled off at the last second, dealing the Huskies a heartbreaking loss.
Austin Owens and Josh Bare each added 11 points for North Wilkes.
The Huskies had four scorers reach double figures, led by Devan Sheets who had 13 points. Bradley Lucas scored 12 points, Alex Spencer added 12 points and Cullen Ashley had a solid double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Connor Bowers had four points and a team-leading four assists. Gavin Woodie added three points, Parker Shelton scored two and Kendall Richardson played in his first game of the season and chipped in two points and one rebound in limited minutes. Richardson had missed the entire season up to that point with a hand injury.
Ashe dropped to 4-9 overall and 2-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. North Wilkes improved to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in the MVAC.
The Huskies travel to Starmount on Wednesday night and host rival Wilkes Central on Friday night.
