Former Husky Zeb Richardson and his Guilford Quakers split the last two Old Dominion Athletic Conference games, which included the first conference loss of the year.
On Jan. 15, the Quakers easily handled Emory & Henry by a final score of 81-59.
Richardson finished that contest with seven points, a team-high nine rebounds and two blocked shots in 22 minutes in the starting lineup.
Matt McCarthy led Guilford with 20 points, but also contributed five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Jake Hopkins scored 11 points and snagged six rebounds and had two steals and Alston Furr scored 10 points and had a team-leading four assists.
The Quakers shot the ball well from behind the three-point line, hitting 11-of-22 shots and turned the ball over just eight times.
Guilford suffered its first ODAC loss last Saturday. Virginia Wesleyan was simply on fire behind the three-point arc (hitting 17-of-35) and pulled away from the Quakers in the second half to win, 84-59.
Wesleyan was up by nine at the half, but outscored Guilford 43-27 to blow the game wide open.
Guilford was able to hit just 38-percent of its shots and was a paltry 2-for-16 (13-percent) from behind the three-point line.
Richardson was held to four points and three rebounds in 26 minutes. Hopkins was the high scorer with 20 points. McCarthy had 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Trever Hyatt added 10 points off the bench.
The Quakers are 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the ODAC.
There is now a three-way tie atop the conference standings with Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon all sitting at 5-1. Lynchburg and Hampden-Sydney are 4-2 just one game back.
Guilford will travel to face conference foe Eastern Mennonite University (8-7, 3-3 ODAC) on Saturday before returning home to face Randolph College (9-6, 3-3 ODAC).
