Senior linebacker Cullen Ashley was selected to take part in the annual North Carolina East-West All-Star Football Game.
“I am just really blessed and excited about the chance to show what I can do,” said Ashley. “I am really excited to represent Ashe County.”
Each year, this game features several of the top senior football players from the state facing off in one last game. Players from the western half of the state square off against players from the eastern half of the state in Greensboro.
According to the N.C. East-West All-Star Games website, this year’s game will take place on July 23.
Ashley is the first football player from Ashe County High School to play in the all-star game, and the second athlete from ACHS to play in one of the East-West All-Star Games. Zeb Richardson took part in the all-star basketball game in 2012, according to the event website.
The Husky senior was a Mountain Valley All-Conference performer on defense and was certainly one of the team leaders.
Ashley wanted to extend a special thanks to all of his teammates and the coaching staff for helping him reach this high point in his football career.
Ashley also found success on the basketball court this year, bringing home MVAC Honorable Mention honers.
