A strong defensive effort kept the Lady Huskies in the game against the No. 3 ranked Forbush Falcons, but one goal would be all the visiting team needed to get the victory.

Haley Lindsay netted the only goal of the game halfway through the first half and the Falcon defense held Ashe to just one shot on goal.

The score could have been much worse for Ashe, considering they had to play one person down after Olivia Brettschneider received a red card in the first half.

Senior goalkeeper Chrissy Simmons made several key saves to keep Ashe within striking distance, but the offense could not get through the Falcon back line.

Forbush improved to 5-2-1 overall while Ashe County fell to 1-4-1 overall.

This was Ashe’s second straight 1-0 defeat.

The Lady Huskies will wrap up play this week with a conference match at Wilkes Central on Friday.

Next week, Ashe is scheduled to play three games. The Lady Huskies travel to East Wilkes on Tuesday, Avery County on Thursday and North Wilkes on Friday.
