The Lady Husky softball team lost a pair of home games last week, first to West Wilkes and then to Alleghany.
West Wilkes 17, Ashe 0
Blackhawk ace Courtney Lackey allowed just one hit in four innings and retired nine Ashe batters on strikes to record the win on the mound. Lackey had a good night at the plate as well with three RBI’s and two runs scored.
Caitlin Shepherd added two hits, two RBI’s and three runs scored. Lakyn Rutledge had two hits, two RBI’s and scored twice and Madison Huffman scored twice and reached base three times.
Ashe got its lone hit on a double from senior Sloan Elliott.
Abigail Miller took the loss after giving up eight runs with only one of those earned on six hits and four walks. The Husky defense committed four errors behind Miller.
Alleghany 12, Ashe 3
Alleghany scored five runs in the first three innings on the way to a win over Ashe on Friday night.
Jenna Eisner pitched all seven innings for the victory and allowed three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.
Miller took the loss, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) with five strikeouts.
Eisner helped her own cause by knocking in a pair of runs and getting three hits. Faith Reeves had a homerun and two RBI’s while Casey Hamm scored three times.
Elliott had a good day at the plate for the home team with three RBI’s and two hits. Sam Bowlin had a hit and a run scored, as did Cierra Sawyer.
The Lady Huskies hold a record of 1-8.
