The Lady Husky volleyball team is still looking for its first victory of the season after dropping a pair of Mountain Valley Conference matchups.

Alleghany improved to 4-0 on the young season with a 3-0 win over Ashe. The Trojans took the first set, 25-21 before cruising in the final two sets with scores of 25-12 and 25-9.

Senior Abby Lopp had five of Ashe’s eight kills. Abby Miller, Lynsey Aldridge and Molly Shelton had one each.

In serving, senior Cierra Sawyer was 12-for-13, Abby Miller was a perfect 9-for-9 and Savannah Poe was also perfect, getting all seven of her serves in play. Sawyer and Aldridge each had an ace.

Aldridge led Ashe with 18 digs and Corinne Jones led the way with seven assists.

On Tuesday, Ashe traveled to Elkin and suffered a 3-1 loss to the Lady Elks.

Elkin won the first set, 25-10 before Ashe stormed back to take the second set, 25-20. Elkin edged past Ashe in the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-21, to get the victory.

Mckenzie Black was the team leader in kills in this match with eight. Lopp added one blocked shot, Sawyer had six serving aces, Aldridge had 57 digs and Jones chipped in 22 assists.

Ashe (0-5, 0-2 MVAC) will return to the court at home on Tuesday against Wilkes Central.
