A motorist who lost control of her vehicle jumped a guardrail and rolled down a steep embankment this afternoon on U.S. 221 just south of West Jefferson.
State Highway Patrol Trooper J.D. Brown said that the driver was northbound at around 3:09 p.m. when she drifted across the center line, and lost control of her Buick sedan when she over-corrected.
The driver, who was alone in the car, was not seriously hurt, but was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital when she complained of a back injury, he said.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Brown said.
