Summer is officially here and it’s time to jazz it up.
The King Bees will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, in the BackStreet Park as part of the West Jefferson Community Partnership’s BackStreet Park Concert Series, sponsored by WJCP member Keep Ashe Beautiful.
Well known in this area, the King Bees and concert-goers always have a great time. Their history and love of music are showcased with each concert.
The Bees have quite a following in Ashe and surrounding counties. Having learned at the feet of the greats throughout the deep-South has amply prepared the band to forge a smoldering, rocking, soul-stirring sound that’s all their own.
Over the many miles logged in the States, and in numerous European tours, the band has proven that it can raise the roof at prestigious concert halls, such as Lincoln Center in New York, shake the stage at European festivals and bring the crowd to their knees in juke-joints in the Deep South.
The West Jefferson Community Partnership is committed to protecting our resources and to preserving and enriching the spirit, cultural, community and family life of our town. One way we accomplish some of these objectives is through our annual summer concert series.
WJCP member/partners include the Ashe County Arts Council, Ashe County Public Library (Friends of the Library), Chamber of Commerce, Christmas In July, Farmers’ Market, Keep Ashe Beautiful, Town of West Jefferson, West Jefferson Business Association and West Jefferson Tourism Development Association.
Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the sizzlin’ sounds of the King Bees Friday night, starting at 5 p.m. at the BackStreet Park.
