Once again, enjoy music under the stars this Friday night, August 22, as the Grayson Highlands Band performs as part of the 2014 Backstreet Park Concert Series. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and listen to old-time music the way it used to be played on the streets of West Jefferson.
Friday night’s version of the Grayson Highlands Band will be just a wee bit different as family and work commitments coincide with occasional performances. With Kilby Spencer of Crooked Road Ramblers on fiddle, Kelly Breiding playing banjo, Paul Triannosky on bass, and Jerry Smith on guitar, a toe-tapping good time is expected. With Eric Hardin on guitar, local favorite and winner of multiple national guitar and banjo awards, and then for an extra-special treat add multiple award winner Adam Steffey, mandolin player extraordinaire, to this fine mix, West Jefferson will be the place to be Friday night!
The West Jefferson Tourism Development Authority is sponsoring the Grayson Highlands Band as part of the Backstreet Park Concert Series and through the West Jefferson Community Partnership. The Partnership is committed to protecting our resources and to preserving and enriching the spirit, cultural, community and family life of the town of West Jefferson. Members of the Partnership include, the Chamber of Commerce, Christmas in July Festival, the Town of West Jefferson, Keep Ashe Beautiful, the Ashe County Arts Council, the Ashe County Public Library, West Jefferson Tourism Development Authority, the West Jefferson Business Association, and the Farmer’s Market.
So bring that blanket or lawn chair and settle in for some mighty fine music on the Backstreet of West Jefferson. Follow up with dinner and coffee at some of the town’s best eateries and make it a full evening of fun and entertainment for the entire family!
