After a successful inaugural run last year, the International Appalachian (INTAPP) program at ASU will hold the second Coffee Buzz 5K on April 5 in Boone.
All money raised at the event will go to the Landon Hill Study Abroad Scholarship. The scholarship is named after Hill, an avid coffee drinking student that passed away after contracting bacterial meningitis while studying abroad in Spain in 2011.
Last year, $2,600 was raised for the scholarship.
The registration fee is $20 if you register online or $15 if you pay with check or cash on the day of the event.
International Appalachian would also like to let people know that if they do not want to run in the event, they can make donations online individually or as a business if they so choose.
According to INTAPP, the goal of the memorial scholarship is to “provide financial assistance to Appalachian State University students interested in studying abroad and who demonstrate a desire to increase understanding and tolerance of human diversity worldwide.”
INTAPP not only promotes studying abroad for ASU students, but the organization also looks for international students that may want to continue their education at ASU and often promote international involvement from the numerous ASU alumni over the years.
